Valentina SEA OF CORTEZ Nov02trip dive logs
Trip Nov02 to 07, 2024
Nov03, 2024 Punta Lobos, Pailebot y Los muellecitos.
A Windy Start to the Trip
Our journey began with a sudden strong wind. For the check dive, we had to adjust our planned route and instead did our first dive at Punta Lobo. We then continued with two more dives at Pailabot and Mujesito, making it a total of three dives for the day. Visibility was around 10m, and the water temperature was 27°C.
Nov 4, 2024 – Los Islotes
Conditions were decent with 15m visibility and a 28°C water temperature. We completed four dives that day. The first dive was all fun, playing with sea lions, but by the second dive, the wind picked up again, reducing visibility.
We had planned to continue north overnight, but the strong winds made that impossible. Instead, we anchored offshore at Los Islotes, had dinner, and waited for the wind to die down. Later, we made our way to San Francisquito Island, braving the rough ride against the northern winds.
Nov 5, 2024 – Lobera de San Francisquito
Strong winds persisted in the morning, so we waited for better conditions while squeezing in three dives. Visibility was around 15m, and the water temperature remained 27°C.
Nov 6, 2024 – Las Animas
Finally, a perfect dive day! The wind calmed down, and we enjoyed fantastic conditions—20m visibility and 28°C water temperature.
We did three dives, and all three featured hammerheads—a lucky day! The sea lions were playful as ever, and even the Guadalupe fur seals made an appearance. It finally felt like the true La Paz experience.
In the afternoon, we moved to Ensenada Grande, where we successfully spotted night mobulas—the highlight of the trip!
Nov 7, 2024 – Fang Ming & Swanee
For our final day, we wrapped things up with wreck and reef dives. Mission accomplished—great job, everyone!
