Day 3, we continued diving in the Baa atoll. The weather wasn’t great but the visibility was surprisingly fantastic. The 1st dive of the day was at Dega Thila. The Luminous Cardinalfish and some kinds of Fusiliers’ juveniles covered the thila beautifully. Longnose Hawkfish in the bush and Bluestriped Snappers at the overhang are the regulars here. Those who surprised us in the overhang were Tawny Nurse Shark and Fantail Stingray. The 2nd dive was at Dharavandhoo Thila, which had a sand area rarely in the Baa atoll. We enjoyed observing such endemic species, like Starry Dragonets, Aurora Shrimpgobbies and Dracula Shrimpgobbies. The 3rd dive was at Kihaadhoofaru Thila. They have a particularly scooped out overhang which is a habitat of many Soldierfish. After the overhang the landscape entertained us. The 4th dive was at Dhonfanu Rock as a night dive. We could see that Indian Sail-fin Surgeonfish wide opened its fins in the night time. Besides, various Butterflyfish changed their color different from day time. The air temperature was 26-31 deg.C. The water temperature was 28-29 deg.C. The visibility was 10-20 meters. To be continued…
