We just came back from the trip going around Male-Baa route, which included the snorkeling with the frenzy Manta Rays in the Hanifaru bay, and was only available during the rainy season. The 1st dive of the trip was at Lankan Reef in the North Male atoll as a check dive. This site is famous with its Manta cleaning station of the rainy season. However, no Manta Rays have been seen this season so far. Because of the bad odd, it wasn’t crowded thankfully. The 100+ Tiera Batfish welcomed us making a big wall in the water! The whitetip Reef Sharks were taking a nap at the bottom. We could not find any Manta Rays, but Harlequin Sweetlips were getting cleaned at the cleaning station instead. The 2nd dive was at Finger Point. The spring tide made the current very strong. We tried to hook ourselves at the place the current meet up, and waited for big fish. Grey Reef Sharks, Whitetip Reef Sharks, Dogtooth Tunas and Rainbow Runners were gorgeously passed by. We headed to the Baa atoll after lunch. The air temperature was 26-31 deg.C. The water temperature was 28-29 deg.C. The 3mm or 5 mm wetsuit was recommended. The visibility was 20-40m. To be continued…
